KAC study tours

KAC organises study tours for professionals and policy makers working in the fields of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and more generally in public health. Tours can be arranged in the UK, as well as in other countries in Europe, South-east Asia and Australia.

The aim of the study tours is to enable participants to learn about the basis for policy, its content and how it is implemented in a particular country/region and context. Each tour is constructed as a bespoke package to ensure the content is matched to the learning needs of the participants. The programme can include presentations from and meetings with:

  • parliamentarians and local politicians
  • senior civil servants and policy makers
  • academics and researchers
  • NGO/Civil Society leaders
  • front-line services workers
  • public health planners
  • law enforcement
  • industry leaders
  • drug user/service user advocates

In addition visits can be arranged to different locations to enable participants to see how policy is put into practice. Such visits can include drug and alcohol services, probation services, courts, police and prison facilities.

In order to achieve this we will: discuss with you a framework incorporating a combination of presentations, meetings and site visits (the balance of the different elements to reflect the aims, objectives and learning goals of each group of participants); draft a programme for your final approval; liaise with the chosen presenters, facilitate meetings, arrange site visits and produce a final programme for distribution to the participants prior to arrival, with timings and a brief description of each of the discreet elements.

Once the programme for the study tour is agreed the package we can offer includes: on-site services of KAC staff throughout the period of the tour, including senior staff accompanying participants during all aspects of the working days; transport throughout the tour to and from the various locations (provided by our travel partners, Anderson Travel); provision of copies of all printed materials (including presentations) for each participant; a report on the study tour, including structured feedback from each of the participants, to be provided within one month of the end of the tour.

Additional optional services include, through our travel partners Anderson Tours, airport/station meet and greet for participants on arrival and transfers to their accommodation; and accommodation for participants, at discounted rates, in city centre locations.

Translation and interpretation services can be arranged.
